15 all out! It must sound ridiculous but it has become an unwanted reality for a highly rated T20 team of Big Bash League.

The most surprising and shameful thing that could have happened to any cricket team has took place in the fifth match of Big Bash League 2022 between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers. Sydney Thunder were bowled out for just 15 runs while chasing 140 runs score posted by Adelaide Strikers. 15 all out will be now a haunted recurring dream for the Thunders who took the most lethal punch in the history of T20 cricket.

Sydney Thunder recorded the lowest men’s T20 total in history after being bowled out for 15 in 35 balls; five hitters, including Alex Hales of England, were removed for ducks at Sydney Showground Stadium; In the Big Bash, Adelaide Strikers triumph by 124 runs.

Their longest surviving batsman was Chris Green who somehow managed to face six balls before getting out on a duck.

Thunder’s surrender was worse than the 21 Turkey had been rolled for by Czech Republic in 2019, as they collapsed in a humbling way after being given 140 to win by Strikers, losing the match by 124 runs.

England’s Alex Hales and four other Thunder hitters were all out for ducks as Henry Thornton finished with 5-3 from 2.5 overs and fellow Strikers bowler Wes Agar with 4-6 from 2.

The Big Bash League’s previous lowest total, which was the 57 Melbourne Renegades had collapsed to against city rivals Stars in January 2015, was completely destroyed by Thunder, whose top scorer was No. 10 batter Brendan Doggett (four). Thunder’s side finished in just 5.5 overs and destroyed the previous lowest total.

Brett Lee said about such appalling batting performance: “I am speechless. I haven’t seen a performance like that. It’s appalling when you think about it.”

Brad Haddin remarked about this performance by Sydney Thunder: “We have seen some aggressive fast bowling, some unbelievable catching and a Strikers team that is really enjoying their cricket but for Thunder to be bowled out for 15 is embarrassing.

It was double header encounter today and both matches appeared to pretty much one sided. It anything, Sydney Thunder will try to forget this loss as soon as as possible so they can move ahead with a new energy. But nobody knows how will they reconcile themselves after having a night that says 15 all out! To be in the wrong side is always a problem for teams but as this is professional cricket, everyone expected a decent fight from them if not a hailing victory.
