Raheem Sterling ruled out of Man City vs West Ham match
Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling will miss the Premier League match against West Ham on Sunday. The forward suffered a hamstring injury.
Scans revealed Sterling suffered damage to his left hamstring during City’s 2-0 defeat at Tottenham. He will, therefore, miss the match against West Ham United this weekend.
The club revealed on Twitter, “Raheem Sterling will miss our game against West Ham this weekend after scans revealed he has suffered damage to his left hamstring. Everyone at City wishes Sterling a full and speedy recovery.”
Sterling has started 23 of City’s 25 league matches this season. Despite the appearances, the forward is without a goal in 2020.
The England international had an eventful game at Tottenham on Sunday. His first big moment came after 12 minutes. However, he got a yellow card on his tackle on Dele Alli.
VAR reviewed the decision for a possible red card offense. However, it was taken that Sterling will not be sent off the pitch.
Again, the 25-year-old was involved with VAR. Following Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty miss, the England international went down under a challenge from Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.
Despite the VAR declining the penalty, City’s star managed to avoid a yellow card for diving. With time running out in the 2-0 defeat, the forward was forced off with a hamstring problem.
After Sunday’s game City will have their two-week mid-season break. Afterward, they will have a trip to Leicester in what could be a pivotal match to decide who will take up the second position in the League’s title race.
