Premier League

The weekend was fully occupied by the Premier League matches. Liverpool moved to within three wins by coming from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 at Anfield.

Liverpool fell behind in controversial circumstances as Callum Wilson slotted home Jefferson Lerma’s low cross after appearing to shove Joe Gomez in the build-up goal.

However, Mohamed Salah restored parity with a low finish. Sadio Mane, on the other hand, latched on to Virgil van Dijk’s perfectly-weighted through-ball to complete the turnaround.

The win against Bournemouth is so significant for Liverpool. The Reds could be champions by the time they lay Everton in the League on the 16th of March. This will be possible if, Manchester City lose their next three games against Manchester United, Arsenal and Burnley.

Sheffield United moved ahead of their remarkable season by beating Norwich, which lies at the bottom of the table. Sheffield is now sixth courtesy of club legend Billy Sharp’s winning goal.

Meanwhile, Wolves missed the chance to jump into fourth place with a goalless draw at home to out-of-form Brighton.

Nuno’s side extends their unbeaten run to five games. But, Graham potter’s men remain winless in 2020 and are just two points above the relegation zone.

In the day’s late game, Dele Alli scored his 50th Premier League goal. He earned his side a 1-1 draw at Burnley. The Clarets took the lead when Chris Wood tapped home on the rebound after Hugo Lloris failed to hold on to Jay Rodriguez’s long-range shot.

Nonetheless, Ben Mee’s rash challenge on Erik Lamela allowed Allu to stroke home from the penalty spot.

Crystal Palace recorded a third successive league victory as they beat Watford 1-0 to climb into the top half of the table.

Jordan Ayew proved the difference once more for Roy Hodgson’s side. He scored his eighth league goal of the campaign with a smart finish from the edge of the area in the first half.

Over to Newcastle, Allan Saint-Maximin’s second-half winner awarded his side a priceless 1-0 victory at Southampton.

Saint-Maximin punished Saints defender Yan Valery’s mistake before keeping his cool by cutting inside and tucking the ball inside the far post.

The Gunners were not left behind in securing a win. Alexandre Lacazette scored the only goal as Arsenal edged a 1-0 victory over West Ham.
