Ex-Arsenal hero, Andrew Arshavin failed to envision Mesut Ozil as a part of Mikel Arteta’s long term plans for Arsenal. “He is not right for Arsenal and has no future at club”MesutOzil300x164

Andrew Arshavin is bewildered why Ozil is still at the Emirates as the German still holds back Arteta’s side. For this reason, the former attacking midfielder has claimed Ozil not to be the right fit for the Gunners and has no future at the club.

Arshavin quickly spots creative brilliance when he sees it. He would take Cesc Fabregas over Ozil all day long as the best play-making Gunner he’s seen.

The Russian star will forever be an Emirates hero after his four-goal Anfield super-show against Liverpool in the Premier League almost eleven years ago.

Although now retired, part of his heart is still in North London. However, he is in question why Ozil is still plays for Arsenal and believes the German star is holding back the club.

He says, “As a player of course, I respect him. Mesut is a world-class player. But for me, he slows down the game.”

“I would prefer to use another player. Mikel, as we can see, is the opposite and plays him a lot. He has improved his game at Arsenal but still, in the future, I do not see him there.”

“He also does not shoot enough. Ozil always looks t pass and that makes it simple for the defense.”

Ozil might be world cup winner with Germany. But, Arshavin says he is not in the same league as former Gunner and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas.

“I was lucky that I played alongside such good players like Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagan at Arsenal”

“But for me my favorite player was Cesc Fabregas because he was very smart and intelligent. He could deliver a ball exactly at the point I wanted it and when he was at the top of his game, he never lost the ball. He always found solutions on the pitch.”

Arteta charged with plotting a way back for Arsenal

The Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta is no charged with plotting a way back for Arsenal after losing ground under Unai Emery.

Arshavin spent two years with Arteta at Emirates and on looking back, he sees the Spaniard was always cut out for management.

“At that time, I did not really think about this. But when I go back to that time for a short period, he became a captain and showed capabilities to lead and manage people.”

“He would also discuss how we need to play, at half-time and after the game. This showed his vision of the game. And he also worked under the coach Pep Guardiola. So why not?
