Tottenham Hotspurs Son Heung-min reveals how he enjoyed the military service he recently experienced in his homeland, South Korea.

For Son Heung-min, the last three months have been some sort of emotional rollercoaster. After he scored a dramatic last-minute winner against Aston Villa at the end of February, few would have been able to predict just how the striker’s short term future was about to pan out.

In the midst of chaotic celebrations at Villa Park following Son’s late winner, the South Korean suffered a broken arm. It was feared by head coach, Jose Mourinho that he would be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Luckily, following the entry of COVID-19 which forced English football postponement, Son made the decision to return to his homeland at the end of March. Here, he continued his recovery back to full strength.

With football being off the agenda, the striker made another decision to carry out his mandatory four-week military service in South Korea. This means he has been keeping himself occupied during the lockdown period.

Now that he is back in UK and training alongside his teammates, the forward, who has scored 16 goals this season, has opened up on his time in the military service. He revealed the experience to be “enjoyable.”

He said, “It was a good experience. I couldn’t say everything that I’ve done but I enjoyed it. The three weeks were tough”.

“On the first days, no one knew each other so it was a bit weird. But soon, we got to know each other. You have to spend every day together. There were ten people in one room so we got very close”.

“We were working together, helping each other. In the first days, the other guys couldn’t even speak to me. But by the end we were joking and enjoying each other”.
