Manchester City defender, Eric Garcia out of hospital
Eric Garcia, the Manchester City defender has been discharged from the hospital following a collision with his goalkeeper in the match against Arsenal.
The 19-year-old Garcia collided with Ederson in Wednesday’s 3-0 Premier League victory at Etihad Stadium. The Spaniard received treatment for a couple of minutes on the pitch before being carried off on a stretcher in a neck brace.
Manchester City in a statement reported Garcia “was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital after the game as a precaution for further tests” where he would be “monitored in the coming days ahead of a return to training and competitive action”.
Garcia sends a thanks message to Manchester City fans
The defender has thanked Manchester City’s fans for their messages as he says he hopes to return to action soon. He posted, “great to start again with a win against Arsenal. Thanks for all the messages I’ve received. Now it’s time to rest and recover and hopefully, I’ll be back soon”.
Earlier in the day, Ederson has posted a picture of himself sitting next to Garcia shaking hands as Laporte reassured fans the Spaniard was fine.
Garcia is likely to miss City’s clash with Burnley on Monday. However, manager Pep Guardiola had already suggested he would look for a different defensive partnership against the Clarets.
He said, “he doesn’t make mistakes. He is always focused and this game we knew we would play against dynamic, fast players. Against Burnley, it is a different type of game with their strikers and we need another type of player. But for this game, we thought he was the right guy to play alongside Laporte and he played really good”.
