Cristiano Ronaldo scored a free-kick from his 43rd attempts for Juventus and became the first player to score 25 Serie A goals in a season for the club since 1961.

Juventus managed to extend their Serie A winning streak to seven in their hunt for a ninth consecutive Scudetto when they destroyed local rivals Lazio 4-1 in Saturday’s Derby della Mole at the Allianz Stadium.

Within two minutes of play, Paulo Dybala danced as he came out firing on all cylinders past the Torino defense and struck a deflected effort past the hopeless Salvatore Sirigu.

Torino clawed one back right before half-time as Matthijs de Light handled inside the area and awarded the visitors a penalty. Andrea Belotti thundered the resulting penalty past Gianluigi Buffon. As the match progressed, the gulf in quality became more apparent.

Ronaldo’s well-placed free-kick on the hour mark extended their lead before an own goal from Armando Izzo rounded off a comfortable day at the office for La Vecchia Signora.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has now scored 46 free-kick goals at the club level, with 32 for Real Madrid and 14 for Manchester United.

Ronaldo becomes the first Juventus player to score 25 goals in a Serie A season since Omat Sivori in 1960/61.

Buffon’s 648th Italian top-flight appearance took him past Paolo Maldini’s previous record.

Buffon, 42, only makes the occasional Serie A appearance these days and has had to wait since December to break the record.

Including his 17 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last season, he also has the record for most appearances in Europe’s top five leagues with 665.

Gareth Barry, now playing with West Brom in the Championship, played 653 times in the Premier League.

Ronaldo and Dybala continue the excellent run of form displaying awe-inspiring chemistry in the final third. Juventus front two were on the score-sheet for the fourth consecutive match, picking up from where they left off against Genoa.

Maurizio Sarri has come under fire for his inability to secure cup competitions this term. Though, no one can deny Juventus dominance in the League.
