The Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard found himself in a heated spat with the Liverpool bench during the first half of their 5-3 defeat at Anfield.

Chelsea’s quest for a Champions League spot will go down to the final day of the season following their 5-3 defeat at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Slipping down to fourth as a result of their loss on Merseyside, the Blues will take on Wolves, who are in battle for a place in the Europa League at Stamford Bridge.

To still secure their Champions League position, Chelsea requires three points while a point would also be enough provided Leicester City don’t beat Manchester United.

With Liverpool finally laying their hands on the Premier League after the game against Chelsea, there was a major flashpoint in the game between Frank Lampard and his counterpart Jurgen Klopp.

Lampard was fuming that the hosts had won a free-kick following Mateo Kovacic challenge on Sadio Mane and he quickly made his feelings known.

In a video being shared online, the club’s record goalscorer could be heard instructing Liverpool assistant Pepijn Lijnders to “sit down” and stating that the tackle was “not a foul”.

He could also be heard saying “it’s not a f***ing foul, I’m not asking you” to the Liverpool bench as Klopp told him to calm down.

Clearly, fuming by the decision to award a free-kick in the first place, Lampard will have been incensed that the resulting kick from Trent Alexander Arnold went in to double their lead.

Much has been made of the bust-up between the coaches and Liverpool fans have had plenty to say about the incident notable on Lampard’s behavior.

Some of the supporters commented, “Lampard’s little outburst last night just shows how much pressure he’s under to make top 4. Imagine what it’ll be like next season after he’s spent £200m”.

While one other fan commented, “Stop crying, Frank Lampard”.

Lampard was quizzed about the incident after the game and played it down as he sent an important to Klopp’s side.

He said, “Fair play to Liverpool Football Club. They’ve won the league but also don’t get too arrogant with it”.

“That was my point. But it’s done. In match play, you can get emotional and that was it. For me, It wasn’t a foul from Kovacic, and there were a lot of things that weren’t going our way”.

“But I’ve not got a problem with Jurgen Klopp. The way he’s managed this team has been fantastic”.
