The awaited 2020/21 Premier League season is set to burst into life this weekend- 12th September 2020 as confirmed from the League statement

The 2019/20 Premier League season was like nothing we’ve ever witnessed before in the history of football. I flashback to the beginning of this season and recall the excitement that filled me having to catch up with friends on weekends to watch some football in those crowded places where everybody’s adrenaline is on high levels.

The season had begun so well with my favorite team Manchester United trashing Chelsea 4-0 in their first match of the season. Just like my fellow football supporters, I looked forward to a “normal” season. Little did I know the “no one knows tomorrow” saying would relatively apply to “us”.

COVID-19 struck the continent and caused a shiver in almost every industry. To football, it resulted in a three-month hiatus and this broke many of the supporter’s hearts. Nonetheless, the coronavirus tide was not too strong to completely shut down football. The campaign finally kicked off and “we” picked up from where we had left.

Finally, the season reached its dramatic conclusion on the last day before Arsenal hammered Chelsea in the FA Cup final to end the domestic season. Consequently, the Champions League final was held on 23rd August as the season finally drew “its” curtains.

The new 2020/21 season is also around the corner. The opening day fixture takes place on Saturday where the Premier League champions Liverpool meets fellow Champions Leeds United.

More opening fixtures include Fulham vs Arsenal, Crystal Palace vs Southampton, West Ham United vs Newcastle United.

Although the season has begun late than usual and with squeezed fixtures, I’m crossing my fingers to have a flowing season with no unprecedented incidences occurring again.
