Chelsea and England defender Tomori has impressed on his loan spell at Milan and become Stefano Pioli’s regular starter. The legendary defender confirmed that they will make ends meet to keep him at the club.

“He has imposed himself with great determination and talent. He arrived in a league he didn’t know and faced it without fear. They are the qualities of a potential champions. We hope he keeps his promises,” Baresi said.

“We will do everything possible to redeem him. Even if there are still two months to play and it will not only depend on Milan,” he confirmed.

Milan has transformed under Stefano Pioli to become Scudetto challengers. They are the closest opponent exerting pressure on leaders Inter Milan. Rossoneri can still claim the Italian Serie A as they are only six points behind leaders.

However, if Milan won’t win the title they will want to remain competitive and that means keeping their players. Tomori’s loan has a built-in transfer option for €28m, but Milan will want to negotiate it.

Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu believes Jens Petter Hauge’s time at AC Milan will come despite the current struggles. Calhanoglu has urged Hauge to stay and fight for his place, although Milan are weighing a possible loan move.

“It’s a question for his agent. But if you ask me, I would ask him to stay and fight his way into the team. He has a lot of quality, and if he works hard and does his best, he can become part of the starting line-up.

Calhanoglu urged his former Bodo/Glimt teammate, “He has to work. He must believe in himself. It’s not easy to play in the starting line-up, we have many quality players, so he has to take his time. He must work more with the tactical and what the coach demands of him. But his time will definitely come.”
