Jorginho, 29, won’t leave the Ballon d’Or 2021 would be odd, says Italian football manager Mancini, with the Chelsea midfielder considered an obvious choice for Ballon d’Or triumph given the year he has enjoyed.

What did Mancini say about Jorginho?

Jorginho by the books at Stamford Bridge has been included in France Football’s list of 30 contenders vying for the title of the best player on the planet. Ronaldo and Messi, with 11 gongs in between, are also on the run alongside Haaland and Lewandowski, but Roberto Mancini believes the 29-year-old playmaker deserves a nod after claiming the UEFA Champions League and European Championship crown in 2021.

Roberto, who brought Italy to Euro 2020 glory over the summer, told journalists of the Battle of Glory Ballon d’Or, with the five Azzurri stars on the list, that they are there because they are good, not because of him. Jorginho should, in the opinion of Roberto Mancini, win the Ballon d’Or. Jorginho won everything and deserves a lot. Otherwise Roberto will find it strange.

Better to dream big

Collecting large silverware from club and country, the Brazilian-born star is a leading candidate for the landing of the most prestigious personal prizes. Argentine icon Lionel Messi, who won international honor for the first time in his remarkable career in the 2021 America’s Cup, is still a favorite of many, with the South American now at PSG after breaking ties with Barcelona.

The 29-year-old, however, can expect to receive a lot of support from journalists, international coaches and captains, who will cast votes to determine the winner. The Chelsea man thinks he should be in the mixed double for another grand prize and lets his thoughts drift towards how he will feel to send the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the award that they have dominated. Jorginho said who doesn’t dream about it? A small dream and a big dream are one and the same, so it is better to dream big.
