Melbourne Stars had their worst tournament of Big Bash League this year. The team’s captain Adam Zampa failed to lead the team to a successful campaign. But the team had its memorable moments with its rivals Melbourne Renegades at the MCG.

Now, Adam Zampa has showed his interest join Melbourne Renegades. The team’s coach David Hussey has also left the post as his term ended after 6 long seasons. When Melbourne Stars faced Melbourne Renegades during BBL 12 match, Adam Zampa tried to mankad Chris Rogers at non striker’s end.

Unfortunately, it was an unsuccessful attempt and the rivalry between both teams got deepend. Chris Rogers brought havoc against the Stars as the latter were unable to chase 142 runs.

It was a controversial season for the Stars, they won only 3 matches in their whole season. Their biggest victories came against Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG and against Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval. Besides that, there were no inspiring performance from the team.

According to a deal made between the two Melbourne teams, Zampa would go to the Renegades in return for Sam Harper, a talented young wicketkeeper-batsman.

Given that his effort to oust nonstriker Tom Rogers in a heated Melbourne derby resulted in boos pouring down on the MCG, it is unclear how the red-clad supporters will react to Zampa.

Following Zampa’s unexpected request for a trade, the Stars released a statement of their own in which they said they “plan to engage into discussions with Adam Zampa that will allow him to be transferred.”

Zampa’s impending departure is just another setback for the Stars after former coach David Hussey suggested that players’ attitudes needed to be “tidied up.”

“I thought with the way I’ve been going in international cricket in particular this was going to be my opportunity,” Adam Zampa said last month.

“That was the messaging I got six weeks ago, this could be a very good chance I could be on it. Now I’m not, I’m very flat about it.”
