Afghanistan and South Africa are set to make history as they gear up for their first-ever bilateral series, scheduled to take place in September. The two cricket boards have officially confirmed the three-match ODI series, which will kick off on September 18 in Sharjah.
This series holds great significance as it serves as a crucial preparation for both teams ahead of next year’s Champions Trophy. While the Proteas have only faced Afghanistan twice in ODIs during the World Cups of 2019 and 2023, they recently clashed in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup in Trinidad.
ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf expressed his excitement about the upcoming series, stating, “They are an excellent team, and we are eagerly looking forward to hosting them and playing them regularly in the future.” Likewise, CSA counterpart Lawson Naidoo added, “This is a significant milestone in our cricketing relations, and we look forward to a competitive and entertaining series.”
The series schedule is as follows:
– September 18: 1st ODI, Sharjah
– September 20: 2nd ODI, Sharjah
– September 22: 3rd ODI, Sharjah
Cricket fans can expect an action-packed series as Afghanistan and South Africa go head-to-head for the first time in a bilateral assignment, promising an exciting display of skill and sportsmanship on the field.
