With Carlo Ancelotti’s return to Real Madrid having been confirmed, another familiar face could be set to return to Valdebebas as his assistant.

Arbeloa will be a new one in coaching team

Ancelotti’s coaching team is now set to be put together in the capital and Alvaro Arbeloa has emerged as a frontrunner to be his right-hand man. Arbeloa is very much a Real Madrid man and his appointment would be well received. Arbeloa would take over from Fernando Hierro and Zinedine Zidane, who were Ancelotti’s assistants in his previous spell at the club. Zidane was by his side in his first season, wherein Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Zidane then took the Castilla job for the 2014/15 season and Hierro took his place as second in command. Now with Ancelotti returning, Arbeloa is believed to be the ideal candidate.

Arbeloa’s praise for Carlo

The ex-defender spoke ahead of Ancelotti’s return about the possibility of the move and was full of kind words for his former coach. “He’s well known throughout the world,” Arbeloa told Real Madrid TV. He always has a great rapport with his players and plays quite an offensive style of play. He gives his players a lot of freedom to show their talent. We played great football with him, we won La Decima, and we had two great seasons. His teams are very well organized, but he also likes offensive and attractive football. He also knows Real Madrid perfectly; he knows how the club works and everything that surrounds the job.”

Arbeloa is on the road of Zinedine Zidane. The French coach also became the assistant of Carlo back in 2014. Team won the Champions League and other cups with Carlo’s help. Real Madrid fans want Alvaro to get the same position in the future as Zidane did.
