Alvaro Morata’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, but the Spaniard is fully focused on his duties in Turin.

What did Alvaro Morata say?

The Spanish footballer insisted that he was happy to always stay at Juve following transfer ties with Arsenal and Barcelona. Alvaro originally returned to Juventus on loan from Atlético Madrid in September 2020, with the Bianconeri extending that deal for an additional season last summer. Juventus have an option to buy the 29-year-old Frank for €35m at the end of the current campaign, but it remains to be seen whether they will retain his services and he has been heavily linked to a number of other clubs.

In December, it was reported that Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement to sign Alvaro in the winter transfer window, but the deal never went through. Arsenal are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Alvaro Morata and it has been speculated that they will launch bidding when the transfer window reopens, but he would prefer to stay at Allianz Stadium.

Alvaro confirmed that Barça were trying to take him to the Camp Nou ahead of the 16-match Juventus Champions League round against Villarreal on Tuesday, and has also revealed that he will see his playing days with the Serie A giants if that is up to him.

Pressed on Barça’s interest and his position in Juventus after the arrival of Vlahovic’s from Fiorentina, Alvaro Morata said in a press conference that this is not important now. Alvaro had a conversation with Massimiliano Allegri about this Barça bid – he told him that Dusan Vlahovic’s arrival would help him, and that’s the way it is. According to Morata, he is happy to be in Juve – if it depended on him, he would always stay here.

Alvaro’s achievement in Juventus

Alvaro won two Serie A titles in his first match with Juventus between 2014 and 2016, solidifying his reputation among Europe’s elite centre-forwards in the process. The Atlético tenant has added two more domestic trophies to his collection since returning to Turin, scoring 28 in 77 appearances in all competitions. Only five of those goals have come in Serie A for Alvaro this term, and competition for places will only intensify when Chiesa returns from injury in the summer. It remains to be seen if Juventus will decide to keep the Spaniard, who could still return to Atlético to see his contract before its June 2023 expiration date.
