The world cup semifinal between India and Australia was quite an eventful match. Both teams kept pressing and in the end, Australia came out victorious because they held their nerves even when the team struggled to contain fireworks by Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur.

The runout of Harmanpreet Kaur is said to be decisive moment of the match. In a recent interview with ABC sports, Alyssa Healy has pointed out that Kaur could have put some more effort because at the end of the day, when two competitive teams meet, it is all about who put that extra effort.

“It’s really funny actually. Belinda Clarke messaged me after and said like well done for taking the balls. And it’s quite an interesting one because I actually don’t take the balls a lot in that sort of scenario. I think it’s a waste of time and I’ve got to put them back on so it’s annoying,” Healy said during an interview with ABC sports.

“But for some reason I’ve felt the need to take the balls off and it was like a bizarre moment where I looked at the umpire and I think that’s out. And I think Schutt at point was like I think that also is out. So just a bizarre play. And I mean harmanpreet can say, whatever she likes it, it was so unlucky.”

“But I mean at the end of the day she cruised back and probably could have been passed the cruise, you know, an extra 2 metres if she, she genuinely put in the effort. So we’ll take it.”

This comment from Alyssa Healy wasn’t appreciated from Indian fans very well. A number of them even demanded that Healy should be sacked from captaincy of UP Warriorz when tournament hasn’t even started it.

“You could say you’re unlucky all you like, but it’s generally about effort and energy at that moment in time. And I know that’s something we speak about in the field in particular is, is putting in that effort and putting in that energy. And I think that comes back to running between wickets as well. It’s doing those little basics better than the opposition and that’s that’s how you’re in big tournaments and I feel like we’ve been doing that quite well.”
