Chennai Super Kings (CSK) middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu earlier today announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ambati Rayudu’s fans were also surprised by this sudden decision. Some even started sharing posts about his career and memories related to him, but later Rayudu deleted his tweet. In this regard, CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan told that Rayudu is not retiring from IPL yet.

Ambati Rayudu wrote, “I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey..” He later deleted this tweet. So far Rayudu has not said anything about this but the CEO of Chennai team told that this cricketer was disappointed with the poor performance of the team.

Kashi Vishwanathan told Sportsstar, “I spoke to him and he is not retiring. He was disappointed with his performance and that’s why he might have put out that tweet. But he has deleted it and he is definitely not retiring.”

This is not the first time that Rayudu has suddenly announced his retirement. Even when he was included to the team for the 2019 ODI World Cup, he had announced his retirement, but later changed that too and returned to play in the IPL.

36-year-old Rayudu has played a total of 187 matches in IPL so far and has scored 4187 runs with the help of 1 century, 22 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has also played 55 ODIs and 6 T20 matches for India. He has scored a total of 1694 runs in ODIs with the help of 3 centuries and 10 half-centuries while he has only 42 runs in T20 International career.

Playing under Rohit’s captaincy, Rayudu won IPL titles in 2013, 2015 and 2017 with Mumbai and then won IPL trophies in 2018 and 2021 with his current team Super Kings. Rayudu missed the first two years because of his association with ICL.

There is some cricket left in Ambati Rayudu. However, his IPL has been disappointing so far and his team hasn’t played to stature as kings. There are some matches left and Rayudu can surely make a comeback and show that he is not finished yet.
