Andreas Christensen and Danny Drinkwater are among those saying goodbye to Stamford Bridge at the end of their contracts.

A little about the topic

The Blues ended their roster of released players at the end of the 2021-22 campaign with a Danish and an Englishman among those heading from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have confirmed that four members of their top team will be joining Rudiger, who has already joined La Liga giants Real Madrid in a farewell to west London. The Blues will, of course, hoping to bring in another proven central midfielder with Andreas, who is also expected to head to Spain and sign for Barça.

What did Chelsea say about Andreas Christensen?

Andreas Christensen has been heading towards the exit for some time and the Danish player was among those who saw the move to Barcelona. The Blues have stated on their official website that Andreas’ Chelsea’s contract expires this summer, ending his 10 years as the Blue, during which time Christensen graduated from their academy and subsequently secured a regular place in their top team, playing 161 games.

Chelsea also stated that Andreas Christensen would experience success in the FA Cup, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Club World Cup and, most memorably, the Champions League. The Danish defender came off the bench in the first half of the final in Porto last year and was critical to their defensive efforts as they overcame Man City.

Chelsea also confirmed that Danny, who has three senior England limits, will be leaving after five years associated with the club. Danny Drinkwater was snapped up from Leicester in 2017, helping the Foxes to a stunning PL title triumph some 12 months earlier. However, the Englishman never settled and is serving having made just 23 matches with more playing time through loan spells at Burnley, Aston Villa, Kasimpasa and Reading.

Other players who will leave Chelsea

Chelsea announced that Belgian Charly Musonda is moving on with the man who has landed two FA Youth Cups and the UEFA Youth League crown while in taking Chelsea’s academy ranks in just seven matches at first team level. The player spent time on loan at Real Betis Celtic and Vitesse, with a permanent deal, now being spotted.

The fourth person to walk away from the Blues at the end of his contract is Jake Clarke-Salter. He had the option of a 12-month extension with Chelsea for the former England U21 International but negotiated his release. The player has spent time with Birmingham and Coventry in recent years is understood to be aiming for a move to a competitive Championship club.
