Cricket Australia (CA) announced this on Wednesday that McDonald’s term will be 4 years. He had been the interim coach of the team since February this year. He replaced Justin Langer, who had resigned from his position after Cricket Australia refused to expand his contract.
Under McDonald’s guidance, the Australian team recently won the Test series and T20 series in Pakistan. He has been showing a lot of trust in going players and persistently forwarding with them.
McDonald joined the Australia men’s cricket team as an assistant coach in 2019. He was with the Australian cricket team that won the T20 World Cup in 2021. He will now have to tour Sri Lanka and India with the team. After this, under his guidance, the Australian team will go down to defend their title in the T20 World Cup 2022 to be held at home.
McDonald, the former all-rounder, played only four Test matches for Australia in 2009. He has also coached teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and English county cricket.

McDonald’s returned from a three-Test tour of Pakistan last week, in which the team lost the ODI series and won the only T20 International.
