Former Australian Test cricketer and World Cup-winner Andrew Symonds has died following a road accident in Queensland, Cricket Australia confirmed this on May 15. Andrew Symonds was a former Australian all-rounder who died following a car crash on the outskirts of Townsville city on Sunday.

 

The full story in unclear but the accident took place on Saturday evening at Hervey Range, outside of Townsville, in north-east Australia. A wonderful cricketer and even a better bloke, Andrew Symonds was feared and loved both. The world cricket has hit by another tragedy to hit the sport following the recent deaths of Shane Warne and Rod Marsh, both greats.

The deaths came as shock to Australian cricket is still coming to terms with the deaths of the greats Rod Marsh and Shane Warne, both killed in March. His death was yet another blow for Australian cricket following legendary leg-spinner Shane Warnes death in Thailand in March.    Show Source Texts

Former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds was a great servant to Australian cricket during his time in Australias national cricket team. A former swashbuckling all-rounder, Andrew Symonds was also an excellent fielder, and was a crucial component in Cricket Australias successive victories at the 50-over World Cups in 2003 and 2007. 

Symonds was also close to moving into coaching, planning to assist another Australian cricketing great this year with a Hundred Challenge. The Australian great was integral in Australias victorious World Cup campaigns in 2003 and 2007, performing with the bat, the ball and on the field. Symonds played 26 Tests for Australia, scoring 1,462 runs at 40.61, and picking up 24 wickets with his deft spin bowling and medium-pace delivery.
