Angel Di Maria starts in important talks with Juve
Juventus are working to bring Angel Di Maria on a free transfer, but the player has very specific requirements regarding his contract.
A little about Angel Di Maria
The Argentine footballer has entered into crisp transfer talks with the Bianconeri, with the linked player’s exit PSG wanting a shorter deal in Turin so he can end his career in Argentina. Angel said goodbye to Paris Saint-Germain fans after scoring in his season 1 Ligue 1 final game against Metz last month, with the club subsequently confirming he would leave as a free agent when his contract expired on 30 June. The Bianconeri are in a good position to sign the Argentine for a free transfer, but if he accepts the move to Turin, he doesn’t plan to stay long in Italy.
Juventus are eager to hand the veteran winger a two-year deal as manager Allegri is keen to add extra experience to his squad as he attempts to transform the club back into Serie A and Champions League contenders. Negotiations between all parties should continue this week, but Angel is only willing to commit to the Bianconeri for one season. Angel Di Maria has agreed to terms that will see the player have a €8m pocket wage with the Bianconeri in 2022-23, but will not budge as he wants to return to his homeland next summer and his entourage is now waiting for a final decision from the club.
What will happen next?
Juventus are in dire need of some extra firepower ahead of next season as they prepare for Dybala’s departure. Atlético Madrid renter Morata is also due to head back to Spain, while Federico Chiesa is still on the path to return from a serious injury. The Argentina international certainly has the pedigree to add an extra dimension to Massimiliano Allegri’s attack after an impressive seven years at Paris Saint-Germain, where the player recorded 93 goals and 119 assists while reeling off five Ligue 1 titles.
