Angel Di Maria’s hugely successful seven-year spell at the Parc des Princes is now coming to an end, and a switch to Italy could be on the cards.

Juve takes aim at Angel Di Maria

Juve is looking into signing the Argentine on a free transfer as PSG decided not to run their contract extension option on the player. Angel spent the last seven years of his career at Paris Saint-Germain, who initially snapped at Man Utd for €52m in August 2015. Angel Di Maria has been a key member of the Pochettino team once again this season but could move on to a new challenge in Italy this summer.

Juventus are looking for a potential deal for Angel, with his age, salary requirements and physical condition all being weighed. The Serie A giants will weigh the pros and cons before deciding whether to offer an Argentine player a contract at the Allianz Stadium.

However, the Serie A Growth Decree could allow Juventus to save a considerable amount of money by signing a player from a foreign country and Allegri believes that Angel Di Maria would be the perfect fit for his squad due to his quality and experience.

The Argentine wanted to stay at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain has the option to automatically renew the Argentine’s contract for another season, but they won’t run the clause. Angel Di Maria wanted to stay at the Parc des Princes because his family settled in Paris and didn’t consider returning to Argentina because he didn’t want to accept a big discount.

However, the coronavirus pandemic has negatively impacted Paris Saint-Germain’s finances and they would rather take the Argentinean’s wages from their books, allowing his contract to expire on June 30th. Angel Di Maria has recorded 91 goals and 117 assists in 291 appearances for the French giants to date, and won his fifth Ligue 1 title with the club after their 1-1 draw with Lens on Saturday.
