Anthony Elanga

Anthony Elanga has enjoyed an impressive campaign at Old Trafford in 2021-22 but the player has suggested there is further potential to open up.

What did Anthony Elanga say?

The Swedish footballer suggested that he was misused by Red Devils interim manager Ralf Rangnick during the breakout 2021–22 campaign, when the talented youngster informed new Man Utd head coach Erik ten Tag on where he could do more. Anthony Elanga established himself as a first team star with the PL heavyweights last season, taking in 27 matches across all competitions and recording three goals.

Many of these exits have been on the right flank, with Jadon Sancho lining up on the left flank, but Anthony told Ten Hag that he should consider changing his tactical plans in wide areas when he takes over the managerial reins this summer.

A product of Man Utd’s famed academy system at its devastating best, running at opponents and forcing them on the back foot, while those qualities are further emphasized in picnics for his country. Anthony registered his first senior goal for Sweden in the Nations League clash with Norway on Sunday and believes the impressive cameo on the left in that contest demonstrated what he’s all about.

The Swedish national team player said it suits him very well. According to Anthony Elanga, with Man Utd he plays a lot on the right, but now he’s getting a chance to play on the left, which is his favorite position. Elanga says he can do more there. Anthony can go both to the pitch and on the outside.

Who is Anthony competing against for the number of minutes?

Jadon was acquired by Man Utd in the summer of 2021 after proving its worth four years later at Borussia Dortmund. Most of his time in Germany was spent starring on the right, but Manchester United often opted to deploy him on the left. Rashford is another Englishman who is considered at his best, working in a wide offensive role rather than down the middle.

The Sweden national team player also enjoys drifting to the left, though, allowing him to cut inside on his right foot and will hopefully reopen the spark in 2022-23 that allows him to earn a place in Southgate’s 2022 World Cup plans.

The impressive pool of talent at Old Trafford has been added to in recent times by the emergence of interesting Argentinean star Garnacho with a naturally 17-year-old left-footed other of those who now compete for playing time on the flanks.
