Former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss, Antonio Conte has emerged as the clear front runner for the vacant Tottenham manager’s role.
Drawing from reports that emerged on Wednesday that Tottenham was in talks to appoint Antonio Conte as the new coach, it now looks clear that the former Chelsea and Inter Milan’s boss will be Jose Mourinho’s successor.
The vacant managerial seat at Spurs had attracted a variety of talented coaches including Mauricio Pochettino who wanted a sensational return at the club. It is understood Spurs had pushed hard to try and bring the Argentine back but Paris Saint-Germain fought even harder to retain him at the Parc des Princes.
With PSG refusing to budge on Pochettino, Spurs diverted their attention to the talented Conte as they prepare to make some major changes in N17.
Conte became a free agent after his shock exit from Inter Milan, with the Italian coach reportedly falling out with the Serie A Champions’ hierarchy over their plans to sell some key players including Romelu Lukaku.
The fact that the ex-Chelsea coach became available was too much of an attractive proposition for Daniel Levy to turn down. Therefore, the Italian coach became the clear front-runner for the Spurs job.
During his managerial career, Conte has won six league titles namely, one Serie B, four Serie A, and one Premier League. Similar to Jose Mourinho’s appointment in 2019, Conte will be brought to the club to end Spur’s long wait for a major honor.
Spurs are also likely to appoint Conte’s former Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, who is a three-year spell at Juventus saw them work together as the then Italian club’s chief football officer.
The former Juventus chief played a key role in the Old Lady’s nine straight Serie A titles from 2012 to 2020.
