Tottenham’s hat-trick heroes Son Heung-min and Harry Kane must be prepared to spend time on the bench this season, according to Antonio Conte.
While Kane has started every game this season, Conte has conceded in recent weeks that his star attacker will have to be rotated due to Spurs’ congested schedule, which will see them play 12 games in seven weeks beginning October 1st.
Conte said, ‘My story is quite obvious.’ ‘At the end of every situation in which I work, I hold a trophy,’. ‘It indicates that maybe my vision, my work, my football notion has to be credited.’ I believe the club is quite pleased with what we are doing with the players and the staff, and I certainly do not want to compromise. I will not make a compromise for anyone. This must be made abundantly apparent.
‘I want to push this team to think on a higher level, not just stay in the center.’ ‘I don’t want to stay at Tottenham because I play every game, every game, every game,’ he says. In my opinion, if you think like way, you are unlikely to fight for something worthwhile.’ We have only recently begun this journey with the club. With Richarlison up front, as well as Harry, Sonny, Deki (Dejan Kulusevski), and Lucas (Moura), and Bryan Gil, who is a fantastic potential and young, the circumstance allows me to rotate.
‘Richy was on the bench for the first four games, Deki was on the bench for three games, and Sonny was on the bench today.’ When we return from the international break and play 12 games in a row, I will undoubtedly rotate.
‘All I ask of my guys is that they give me the opportunity and do not drop the level when we do this rotation.’ We always want a good team because we want to compete in every event.’
‘There is now an international break. I’m crossing my fingers for no more injuries because we have 12 games in a row in October. Difficult games because we’re talking Premier League, Champions League, Premier League, Champions League, Premier League, Champions League.’
Spurs have the same number of points as Manchester City after seven Premier League games and remain unbeaten in the league.
Tottenham’s squad depth will be put to the test following the international break, as they were without Ben Davies on Saturday due to a knee injury that will keep him out of Wales’ duties next week.
Conte is hoping for no further injuries, saying, ‘We’re 17 points after seven games.’ I think that was a great start.
