Antonio Conte ‘wants six new signings’ In the Summer Transfer Window
After taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham Hotspur in January, Antonio Conte made only two additions, but the Italian is eager to add to his team as he wants to bring in as many as six new players this summer.
Conte arrived in north London in November but only added two players in January, bringing in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus. Spurs, on the other hand, have lost four first-team players due to a mix of loan and permanent departures, including record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
Since then, the Italian has tempered his position on the team, acknowledging the importance of his January signings. With Spurs still fighting for fourth place this season, it is believed that numerous new signings are required before next season.
“In January, four players left. “For Tottenham, two vital players have arrived,” Conte said on February. “So, instead of strengthening quantitatively, you may have weakened on paper.”
However, in April, he appeared to take a step back, emphasizing the beneficial impact of the two new additions. “Even though we lost four players in January, I said that with these two new acquisitions, we made this squad more complete and balanced,” he remarked.
“I believe that having a clear plan and a decent vision is critical in football.” Because the problem is more straightforward in this manner.”
Conte wants to add a center-back, a right wing-back, two midfielders, a forward, and a backup goalkeeper, according to The Telegraph. Kulusevski, who has impressed since arriving in north London, might join permanently before the end of his 18-month loan.
Pierluigi Gollini, the current second-choice goalkeeper, is only on loan and may return to his native club, Atalanta. Spurs are considering England international Sam Johnstone, who will be a free agent this summer. The West Brom midfielder would help with the club’s homegrown quota.
Djed Spence, whose form at right-back for Nottingham Forest has piqued Premier League interest, is another English player mentioned in the Telegraph piece. Torino’s Gleison Bremer is a center-back target, while Christian Eriksen, currently at Brentford, might return to Spurs after playing under Conte at Inter Milan.
Spurs’ senior players are all under contract until the end of the season, but the London club could cut their squad in addition to signing some of Conte’s targets. Ndombele, Bryan Gil, and Giovani Lo Celso are now on loan, with the possibility of temporary or permanent exits during the summer, while Dutch international forward Steven Bergwijn has also piqued attention.
