Arjen Robben returns back to action

Arjen Robben announced his decision to return to action next season via social media, a year after retirement, to join his lively club Groningen. The 36-year-old winger took his first football steps at the Dutch side academy before moving to PSV Eindhoven and then starting a sparkling football career with Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. FC Groningen will hold a press conference on Sunday for Robben to explain his decision to retire. In a video posted this Saturday, the Dutchman remembered his first impressions in football at the club and his fascinating debut against Feyenoord at the age of 16, after which he moved to PSV.

“We are returning home at this time of crisis, and it’s great to see how everyone supports the club,” he said: “It made me think about what else I can do for our club. I heard the call of our supporters. I want to return as a football player, as a player of FC Groningen. At this time, I’m not sure that it will happen. I’m sure that my drive and motivation will be 100 percent. It will be a difficult physical challenge, but I’m going for it. I’m going to work hard, and when everything is right, I’m going to join the squad for the first training of the new campaign.”
