The Gunners have made their first official offer for a long-term transfer to Ukrainian player Mykhailo Mudryk.
How was everything?
Arsenal have been fans of the Ukrainian player for some time and have now made an offer, which means a total of about £55m including add-ons. Shakhtar has publicly valued him at around £90m and is expected to turn down the offer, but the Gunners are determined to land the player during the January transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options following Brazilian Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
What did Mikel Arteta say?
Speaking ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with the Hammers on Boxing Day, Arteta spoke of wanting to do the transfer business early in the window. The Arsenal manager said they knew the importance of getting players at the start of the summer and that’s what they want to do in January. According to Mikel Arteta, this is idealistic, but sometimes it is unrealistic. Arteta says that if they ask his opinion, they want players as soon as possible.
A little about the topic
The Ukrainian is a priority target for the Gunners in January, and this early bid shows they have business in mind. Obviously they are still somewhat short of Shakhtar’s very public assessment of him, but they will be very hopeful of a deal in the coming weeks, with the player very interested in moving to north London.
