Arsenal Finishes the £45 million Transfer of Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus’ transfer to Arsenal has allegedly been completed following personal terms agreed with the Manchester City striker.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the transaction is now finalized and the Gunners and City had previously agreed to a £45 million cost.
Jesus, who previously collaborated with Mikel Arteta at City as the latter’s assistant coach, is expected to sign a five-year deal with the club.
According to reports, City will use the money to finalize a deal to sign Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips. City and the England international have reached a contract for £42 million with add-ons.
The fact that Pep Guardiola’s team had previously recruited Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund allowed them to sell Jesus.
The agreement is expected to put an end to Arsenal’s quest for a striker following Alexandre Lacazette’s decision to rejoin Lyon. Despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Barcelona in the January transfer window, Arsenal decided not to purchase a striker.
Eddie Nketiah, a forward, and the team recently agreed to a new five-year deal.
Arteta will be hoping that Jesus, a Brazil international, can provide his squad an extra edge in attack since the player has long been recognized as a priority target for Arteta.
Arsenal had previously acquired winger Marquinhos from Sao Paulo and midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto.
Matt Turner, a goalkeeper, is about to join the New England Revolution, while Raphinha, a winger for Leeds, is also nearing a contract with Arsenal. Another player Arteta is considering acquiring is the Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
In 236 appearances since moving to City from Palmeiras in 2017, Jesus has scored 95 goals. He has won the FA Cup once, three times in the Carabao Cup, and four times in the Premier League.
Arsenal wants to increase their Premier League goal total from the 61 they scored last season, and they believe Jesus can help them do it.
The 25-year-old is accustomed to representing City in the Champions League, but he will enjoy playing a crucial role for Arsenal.
