The Arsenal manager sees no signs of damage in the Gunners’ relationship with French defender William Saliba and has no qualms when it comes to the defender’s commitment.

What did Arteta say about William Saliba?

Arsenal are looking forward to seeing William commit to a new contract at Emirates Stadium, with new terms being negotiated. William Saliba has been a revelation to Premier League leaders this season, making a stunning impact on the back of loan spells at St Etienne, Nice and Marseille, who could see him give up making a breakthrough in north London.

When asked about contract discussions and collective confidence when it comes to closing a deal, the Arsenal manager said he was really impressed and surprised at the same time when he spoke to him. According to Mikel Arteta, it’s obvious how the relationship started and he went out on loan and he came back and he went again.

If it was a little damage there, because obviously William Saliba had certain expectations and something happened, but again he was so determined and so focused just to play for Arsenal that, Arteta thinks it caused everyone their small surprise. So, according to Mikel, if he looks at how he talks about the club and how long he wants to be here, he has no doubt that he wants to continue to be here.
