Matt Turner will leave New England Revolution in the next window.
A little about Matt Turner
The Gunners have reached an agreement with the New England Revolution to sign the US men’s team goaltender this summer. Matt Turner has enjoyed a stellar 2021 for club and country and will now be looking to compete against Arsenal to kick off Ramsdale with Leno’s future in doubt. Matt was the 2021 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the Shield Revolution last season, which caught the attention of clubs in Europe.
The United States star starred in the Gold Cup last summer in his first major opportunity to stake his claim to be the No. 1 goaltender for USMNT. His strong play between posts helped his side win the tournament – and beat Mexico in the final for the second time in three months. Matt Turner has made 13 international appearances since earning his first USMNT limit in January 2021.
His main competition for the starting role is Man City goaltender Zack Steffen, who was injured over the summer but has since recovered to take back his place in the team. Outside of the Revolution, Turner spent time developing early in his career with the Jersey Express and Richmond Kickers.
