Arsenal had one of the busiest summers of any PL club and were linked with Lucas Paqueta.

What did Eduardo say about Lucas Paqueta?

The Gunners technical director Eduardo addressed rumors linking the Lyon player to a move to Emirates Stadium. Lyon has already confirmed that the bets on Lucas Paqueta have been flooded, with Arsenal among those reportedly interested in his services. Now Arsenal’s technical director has admitted to being a fan of the 24-year-old, but he won’t be green-lighting a move this summer as he feels the Gunners already have enough quality in the same position.

The Brazilian had an impressive outing with Lyon in the 2021/22 season as the player was voted the best foreign player in the league. The Ligue 1 side was reported to be holding on for an €80m fee for the valued asset. The Arsenal boss has said about the club’s links to Lucas Paqueta that he has a lot of respect when he talks about Paqueta. According to Edu, he is a guy who loves him very much, he always liked him, since the days of the Brazilian national team.

Lucas Paqueta had a great season, he was considered the best overseas player in the French league. Edu says that there really is no talk today, only his admiration for the player, because the squad today, in the position he plays, Eduardo thinks they are very well served in this regard.

Who are the next candidates for the Gunners to sign in the future?

The Gunners have had one of the busiest summers of any PL club as they aim to come out of their fifth finish in 2021-22. Their biggest signing was undoubtedly Brazilian player Gabriel Jesus, who came from the Citizens on a £45m deal. They also signed South American Marquinhos, American Matt Turner and Portugal international Fabio Vieira, who completed a £30m move from Porto.

Ukrainian footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko became their fifth summer signing when the player followed Gabriel to the Emirates, but the Gunners are likely to still be active in the market. Leicester City player Youri Tielemans is reportedly Arteta’s long-term target and Arsenal were keen to land the Belgium player at the start of the summer but pulled back to focus on completing other deals, including those for Jesus. However, the Gunners are now leaning towards rekindling their interest in Youri Tielemans, which is expected to be worth around £25m.
