Hector Bellerin has a year left on his contract and the player could continue his career in his home country after a stay at Betis.

A little about the topic

Atletico Madrid are interested in signing a Spanish player from the Gunners this summer. Hector Bellerin enjoyed a prosperous season on loan at Real Betis, helping the Spanish side succeed at the Copa del Rey along the way. Real Betis hopes to secure a permanent deal with Bellerin this summer, but they are under financial constraints and not the only party chasing his signature.

What’s next for Hector Bellerin?

Atletico Madrid have been in contact with the Spanish player’s agents, with Argentine manager Diego Simeone pushing the club to add a new right-back. The Spurs’ Emerson Royal, Maffeo of Mallorca, RB Leipzig star Mukiele, Udinese defender Nahuel Molina and Jonathan Clauss from Lens are all on their radar. Now the capital club has added Hector to that list of targets. Although Atletico Madrid have had talks with the player’s agents, their interest has cooled off in recent days.

Spanish international doesn’t want to stay with the Gunners. Hector Bellerin still has a year left on his contract and the player has no future at the club after some 10 years with the north London side. No one on the PL side wants to stand in his way of finding a new club and they are open to accepting a low deal to let him leave before next season. Hector has made 238 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal since his arrival from Barcelona in 2011.

It feels like when, not if, Hector leaves the Gunners this summer. Hector Bellerin wants to go and the Gunners won’t stand in his way. Hector loved his time at Real Betis last season and in an ideal world would have already secured a piercing move back to his home club. But the player’s salary proves to be a problematic barrier to any deal. Maybe Hector Bellerin will figure it out and get himself a move, be it to Betis, Atlético or any other Spanish side.

The Spain international was a great servant to the Gunners and it’s sad that his time at the club ended the way it has. The injury Hector Bellerin suffered against the Blues in 2019 hit him very hard and he hasn’t been the same player since then – both physically and mentally. But Hector found his love for football again when he returned to Real Betis last season and it was good to see him smiling again.

The Spaniard is still a hugely popular figure in the Gunners and as such no one at the club will stand in his way this summer when it comes to getting a move. It’s just a case of finding a deal that works for all parties. Maybe it will happen sooner rather than later.
