Atletico Madrid has confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Hertha Berlin, as Los Colchoneros’ search for a forward finally comes to an end. Atletico had some problems in this transfer window, but eventually, they could sign Hertha Berlin after waiting some time.

The 22-year-old may not be in the mould of Luis Suarez, instead of having a somewhat similar playing style to Angel Correa, but he has been brought to Atletico to complete Diego Simeone’s attack. Matheus Santos Carneiro da Cunha, commonly known as Matheus Cunha, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for La Liga club Atletico Madrid. He seems like he can be a great addition to the team. Atletico Madrid didn’t have a great time last season. We can indeed say that their previous season mainly was mediocre, but now considering that they signed Matheus Cunha, this may be a little game-changer. His arrival comes after Atletico failed to agree with Fiorentina for Dusan Vlahovic. Earlier in the summer, Los Colchoneros had also tried to see if they could tempt Antoine Griezmann away from Barcelona, but no agreement was reached.
Matheus’s future
Matheus isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but he can still show us great play no matter what. Cunha may not be a prolific goalscorer, but his numbers are not wrong. Ignoring his time at Leipzig, where he barely played, he found the back of the net five times in 11 games in his first season at Hertha. He followed that up with a return of seven goals and five assists last season. The only thing we have to do at this point is to wait to see him in real action; in an accurate match, time will show as if this transfer was indefinitely worth it or not.
