Women’s World Cup 2022 Final: Australia won the title for a record seventh time by defeating defending champions England by 71 runs in the final played at Hagley Oval ground in Christchurch on Sunday.

With this defeat, the England team could not defend their title. Australia, batting first after losing the toss, set a mammoth target of 357 runs for England to win.

But England’s team could only manage 285 runs in 43.4 overs despite Natalie Seaver’s brilliant century. Seaver was England’s top scorer.

She played an unbeaten inning of 148 runs in 121 balls with the help of 15 fours and a six. For Australia, Alana King and Jess Johnson took three wickets each while Megan Schatv took two wickets.

Australia wins World Cup 

Earlier, Australia got off to a great start with their opening pair of Rachel Haynes and vice-captain Alyssa Healy adding 160 runs for the first wicket.

Rachel Haynes was dismissed for 68 runs off 93 balls with the help of seven fours. Alyssa Healy scored a massive 170 runs off 138 balls with the help of 26 fours, hitting her second consecutive century.

This is the highest individual score by any player so far in a World Cup (men and women).

Apart from her, Beth Mooney contributed 62 runs off 46 balls and captain Meg Lanning contributed 10 runs.

Sophie Ecclestone got two successes for England and Anya Shrubsole, Katherine Brunt, Natalie Shiver and Charlotte Dean got one success each.
