Australia and South Africa are strong contenders for the World Cup and will give equal competition to each other. It remains to be seen which players will be awakened in the team, possibly some new changes. For some time now BCCI has been trying to make two full time Indian teams so that there is no pressure on the players for the series and even if one player takes rest, a capable and experienced player can make his place in the team.
Coming to the India and South Africa series, Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla will host the last of the three ODIs against South Africa in the second week of October, while the team going for the T20 World Cup is scheduled to leave for the ICC event after first set to play three matches against Australia and South Africa.
It is learned that India will play Australia in Mohali (September 20), Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25). They will complete their World Cup preparations with three more T20Is against the Proteas in Trivandrum (September 28), Guwahati (October 1) and Indore (October 3). The three ODIs will be played in Ranchi (October 6), Lucknow (October 9) and Delhi (October 11).

With the BCCI wrapping up the pending series, which was postponed due to COVID-19, South Africa are coming up for a three-match ODI series during Durga Puja, where a second string Indian team will be seen in action.
A BCCI source said, “As our secretary Jay Shah recently said, we will have two national teams of equal strength available. So three ODIs will be played at a time when the national team leaves for the World T20. “
