The defending champions are in the finals again. At the beginning of the tournament, England Women looked off to their strength and they were back at business at the right time. Australia Women have been invincible throughout the tournament.

England Women is a  4 times world cup champion while Australia Women is 6 times world cup champion. Last four world cup finals have been pretty much one sided. In 2017, England Women defeated India Women at Lords Cricket Ground.

Australia Women have been in benevolent form. They have played attacking cricket with consistency. So far, as we have seen, their top order is the core of the team. 3 out of the 4 top order batsmen have scored centuries in Women’s World Cup 2022.

England certainly is a bowling dominated side. Extraordinary performance from the highest wicket taker in the tournament. Sophie Ecclestone has performed when the team needed it most from her. In the semi finals, she bagged a fifer to guide England to an easy victory over South Africa.

In the third match of Women’s World Cup 2022, Australia Women faced England Women. It was a close match. Australia won the match but only by a small margin of 12 runs after scoring 310 runs.

England found the form at the business end of the tournament. The toss winning team will certainly prefer to bat first if anything because chasing has not been an easy way to deal with runs. Small grounds and flat wickets, both teams have the capacity to post a big total but on a specific note, Australia seems stronger in the batting department.

England Women posted 293 in the semi-finals against South Africa Women. They didn’t start positively in that match. Credit goes to Danielle Wyatt who scored a magnificent century to put England in a dominant position.

In the first semi-final, Australia Women, too, registered an easy victory over West Indies Women. Alyssa Healy notched her first World Cup century in that match.  The Australian middle order hasn’t been tested yet. Their top order batters are in prolific form and that allows their bowlers to operate without pressure.

For England Women, everything looks good. They have a strong and attacking bowling attack. Certainly, Australia will take that into consideration before deciding the batting order.
