India will host Australia for a three match ODI series starting from 17th March. Australia have lost the BGT 2023 and they will surely want to make a comeback by defeating India in their backyard, they did something similar in 2019 when they won the ODI series after being 2-0 down in the series.

The India vs Australia ODI series in 2019 was a highly anticipated series following the loss Australia faced in previous matches. The five-match series was played from 2nd March to 13th March 2019. The series saw some exhilarating cricketing performances from both the teams, with Australia coming back from a two-nil deficit to win the series.

First ODI Hyderabad| Australia 236/7 | India 240/4 (48.2/50 ov, target 237)

The first match of the series was played in Hyderabad, and it was a low-scoring affair which India won in a handy way. Batting first, Australia could only score 236 runs, Usman Khawaja and Glenn Maxwell making the most contribution.

While chasing down the total, the Indian batting line-up had some hiccups but MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav shared a crucial 141 runs partnership from 99/4 to 240/4.

Second ODI Nagpur| India 250 | Australia 242 (49.3/50 ov, target 251)

The second match of the series was played in Nagpur, and it turned out to be another nail biting affair. Batting first again, the Indian team posted a total of 250 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in their 48.2 overs on a relatively two paced wicket. Virat Kohli top-scored with a knock of 116 runs, while the other Indian batsmen failed to get going.

In response, the Australian team were looking good while chasing but they couldn’t pull it off in the last over when Marcus Stoinis was on crease and they only needed 11 runs to win the match. They fell short by 8 runs and Australia suffered a close loss despite good innings from Marcus Stoinis and Peter Handscomb.

Third ODI Ranchi | Australia 313/5 | India 281 (48.2/50 ov, target 314)

The third match of the series was played in Ranchi, and it turned out to be a high-scoring affair. Batting first, the Australian team could manage only 313 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 50 overs. Opener Usman Khawaja top-scored for Australia with a knock of 104 runs, while skipper Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell contributed with half-centuries.

In response, the Indian team could manage only 281 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, falling short of the target by 32 runs. Virat Kohli top-scored for India with a knock of 125 runs in 95 balls, while the Australian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

Fourth ODI Mohali| India 358/9 | Australia 359/6 (47.5/50 ov, target 359)

The fourth match of the series was played in Mohali, and it turned out to be another high-scoring affair. Batting first, the Indian team posted a mammoth total of 358 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and played 115 balls 143 runs knock, while Rohit Sharma added 95 runs to the score.

Peter Handscomb top-scored for Australia with a brilliant knock of 117 runs, while Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, and Ashton Turner contributed with half-centuries. In response, Australian side chased down the mammoth score with 13 balls to spare.

Fifth ODI Delhi| Australia 272/9 | India 237 (50 ov, target 273)

The fifth and final match of the series was played in Delhi, and it turned out to be a low-scoring affair. Batting first, the Australian team could manage only 272 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs with some hitting from the lower order.

Usman Khawaja top-scored for Australia with a knock of 100 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked 5 wickets among them. Indian batters had their start but they couldn’t get going and in the end, fell 35 runs short from the target.
