Making a presence on Zalmi podcast, Babar Azam shared a lot about his journey to being one of the best, and also his personal side, the humble and kind being who is likeable for its own reasons. Babar was asked to choose between IPL and BBL, and after a three second thought, Babar said Big Bash.
The reasons were quite evident considering the conditions in which Big Bash League is played. He said, “In Big Bash, conditions are different. Those are fastest pitches in Australia and you get to learn a lot. You see a good cricket there. IPL is played on Asian condition which are rather very good for batting.”
IPL brings humongous popularity to T20 cricket, it is called one of the toughest leagues in the world, because you see world class players giving their best on biggest stage. Later on when the host asked him to choose between Australia and New Zealand as his favourite place to play, without giving second thought to the question, Babar said, “Australia”.
The right handed maestro only averages 26.55 while batting in T20Is in Australia, which is quite unspeaking of his talent and standard. But he likes Australia as an opposition in T20 matches, averaging over 63 in 8 matches against the 2021 T20 World Cup winners.
A world class player he is, Big Bash eagerly wants to feature players like him in their tournament. He will be a great ambassador for cricket and kids will love to see class dominate power in Big Bash League. In T20 Blast, Babar plays for Somerset and already has a century to his name.
In PSL, he is captaining Peshawar Zalmi. On Thursday’s evening, his team qualified for the PSL Semifinals, beating Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United by 12 runs. Babar Azam had a quite satisfying run in last 4 matches, scoring a minimum 50 runs in all of them.
