BAN vs AFG 2022

On Saturday ACB named Stuart Law as the National team’s Interim Head coach for their limited-overs tour of Bangladesh.

The former Australian batsman will take over the duties from Lance Klusener who stepped down from the role on mutual agreement in 2021. According to an Official Press release, the ACB has launched the recruitment process for hiring a new permanent coach for the national team.

Stuart Law has enjoyed an illustrious career while playing for Australia in ODI format. He has played for Australia in 54 games from 1994 to 1999 scoring 1237 runs. Stuart Law was a prolific batter in Australian domestic cricket & is the third all-time highest run-scorer for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield tournament. After his retirement from international cricket, he took coaching roles at different levels. He started his coaching career with the Sri Lankan Cricket team as their interim head coach before the 2011 World Cup.

Stuart was appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh in 2011-2012 and he led the side to their first Asia Cup final. After a few stints with various domestic and Under-19 sides, he took charge as West Indies head coach on a two-year contract in 2017. Stuart Law had also served as a consultant with the Australian team in 2016.

Meanwhile, Stuart Law has joined the Afghanistan Cricket team who has reached Chattogram from Sylhet on Saturday after completing their preparatory camp ahead of their limited-overs series against Bangladesh. Afghanistan will play three ODIs and two T20Is against Bangladesh. The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram will host three ODIs on February 23, 25, and 28 while the two T20Is will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on March 3 and 5.

Afghanistan Cricket Board has made a number of changes to both T20I & ODI squads. Senior players Mohammad Shahzad, Gulbadin Naib, Hamid Hassan, and Hashmatullah Shahidi have been dropped from the T20I squad, while the likes of Sharafuddin Ashraf and Usman Ghani have been removed from the ODI squad. Meanwhile, ACB Officials said that their key players Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Mohammad Nabi, who are currently participating in the PSL 2022, will reach Chattogram on February 21.
