Bangladesh Optimistic about Taskin Ahmed’s Availability for T20 World Cup 2024 Opener

Bangladesh is eagerly anticipating the return of pace bowler Taskin Ahmed in time for their T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Sri Lanka. Taskin, who is currently with the team for the ongoing T20I series against the USA, missed the first two matches and will also sit out the third as he undergoes rehabilitation in the USA.

Taskin’s inclusion in the 15-member World Cup squad raised eyebrows due to concerns about his participation following a rib fracture. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Debashish Chowdhury revealed positive news after an MRI scan showed significant improvement in Taskin’s recovery.

“Taskin’s progress has been very encouraging. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and gym training, with plans to gradually reintroduce bowling,” stated Debashish. “We are hopeful that he will be fit to play from the opening game of the World Cup if his recovery continues on this positive trajectory.”

In case Taskin is unable to recover in time, paceman Hasan Mahmud has been included in the squad as a reserve player. Bangladesh will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on June 7 in Dallas, with fans eagerly anticipating Taskin’s potential return to strengthen the team’s bowling attack.
