The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to make a final decision regarding the white-ball series against Afghanistan in July, as announced on Friday. Originally, BCB had rescheduled their all-format away series against Afghanistan, which was expected to include two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is following the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
According to a draft itinerary seen by Cricbuzz, the new schedule includes three ODIs and three T20Is to be played in Greater Noida between July 25 and August 6. Discussions are ongoing between the boards of both countries to potentially play the two Tests in 2025 due to Bangladesh’s busy red-ball schedule in 2024.
After the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh is set to travel to Pakistan for a two-match Test series, followed by a tour of India for two Tests and three T20Is. In October, they will host South Africa for a two-match Test series, and in November-December, they will visit West Indies for two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
The decision to play the three ODIs and three T20Is against Afghanistan in July is still pending, with the BCB emphasizing the importance of not overburdening their players with excessive cricket. BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury stated that while the series was previously included in the FTP, a final decision is yet to be made after consulting with the team management.
Jalal Yunus, BCB cricket operation chairman, echoed similar sentiments, mentioning that weather conditions in July may not be conducive for cricket. The schedule currently has Bangladesh arriving in Noida on July 22 to play the three ODIs, scheduled for July 25, 27, and 30, followed by the three T20Is on August 2, 4, and 6. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
