Barcelona have 52 million left to spend

Barcelona enter the final days of the summer transfer window with several signings yet to be defined. The club are keen to bring in a full-back for each flank, a striker if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay leave, and Bernardo Silva if Frenkie de Jong finally makes way. The board earmarked 200 million euros at the start of the window for new players, and so far, they’ve spent 148 million: 50 on Robert Lewandowski, another 50 on Jules Kounde, and 48 to get Raphinha from Leeds United. That means Barcelona have 52 million left to spend. However, you can add the proceeds from sales to that amount. That means the five million received from Club Brugge for Ferran Jutgla have been added to that figure.

The club don’t have room in their wage bill

The 20 million received for Coutinho aren’t included as they were accounted for in the previous financial year, meaning the Blaugrana still have 57 million to spend. That figure could go grow if Aubameyang is sold to Chelsea. However, the situation isn’t simple for Barcelona because while they have money to sign players, they don’t have room in their wage bill. They had to complete countless manoeuvres to make room for Kounde, though Aubameyang’s departure would allow them to sign two full-backs. It wouldn’t be enough to register Bernardo Silva, though. In terms of who could be signed at right full-back, three names are being considered: Juan Foyth, Thomas Meunier and Hector Bellerin. All three have been contacted, each waiting for a final decision.

As for the left, the top target is Marcos Alonso. Although his name has been mentioned in talks for Aubameyang, Barcelona want separate deals for the two. Another option is Javi Galan. Finally, there is the dream that is Bernardo Silva. However, there’s a slim chance of seeing that move happen as Manchester City aren’t interested in selling him at this stage.
