Barcelona have confirmed that Pedri will undergo tests for a leg injury on Sunday after being filmed arriving at the hotel on crutches. Pedri has been in great shape in recent weeks but came out with a left leg injury during the win over Sevilla in LaLiga on Saturday. Later that day, he arrived at the club hotel on crutches and did not put any weight on his left leg as he got off the bus and entered the lobby. “The teenage midfielder has a muscle problem in the lower part of his left leg,” Barcelona confirmed. “On Sunday, he will have more tests to find out the exact extent of the injury”. There was no word about the extent of the problem. But it was a warning sign that he hadn’t taken any weight on his leg on Saturday afternoon.

The Blaugrana face Sevilla again on Wednesday in the return match of their Copa del Rey semi-final. The Catalonian side trail 2-0 from the first leg. The Catalans have returned to the Liga title race and are now trail leaders Atlético Madrid by two points – albeit playing two more games. LaLiga would appear to be Barça’s best chance to secure the silverware this season as they track 4-1 Paris Saint-Germain after their first match in the Champions League clash. The French capital’s return leg will take place on March 10, meaning Pedri will have a little over a week to clear the problem if he is to face Mauricio Pochettino’s side. As well as the Copa del Rey and Champions League games, Barça face Osasuna, Huesca and Real Sociedad in LaLiga in March.
