Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is not thinking about retirement yet. The centre-back is optimistic and wants his playing days to continue for another three to four years. Pique now is 33, has been a critical part of Barcelona’s setup over the last decade and is currently being missed by Ronald Koeman, with him out due to injury. “I am honoured to be here after a successful career,” Pique noted at Sunday’s Globe Soccer Awards, where he received appreciation for his career’s work. “I hope I can keep playing for another three to four years”. Pique reunited with former Spanish team-mate Iker Casillas at a Dubai ceremony, with whom he was delighted to meet again. “It was fun to see Iker,” added Pique.

“I had the opportunity to share the dressing room with the national team, winning the European Championship and the World Cup together. I was also able to share the dressing room with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in my early days at Manchester United. It was an amazing time together, and we won titles”. Robert Lewandowski was named Player of the Year in a ceremony, recognizing a remarkable year for the Pole. He had a part in Bayern Munich’s 8-2 thrashing of Barca in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. “I haven’t a chance to share a dressing room with Robert Lewandowski,” Pique admitted. “But I have beaten him, and Robert has beaten me. Winning and losing is part of football. The most important thing in football is sharing experiences and building relationships with the players you’ve shared a dressing room with.”
