Mathew Wade continued his prime form with the bat as he blazed his way to a 39-ball 48-run knock. D Arcy Short also played a valuable cameo of 37 runs in 22 deliveries. Tim David set the stage on fire in the second half of the innings.
He played an unbeaten knock of 46 runs in just 20 deliveries to take the team to a formidable score on the board. For the Renegades, Lalor and Boyce both picked two wickets each. However, none of the bowlers made a significant impact with the ball.
In pursuit of the total, James Seymour and Shaun Marsh added 37 runs in just 3.1 overs before the former got out on the very next ball for a well-made 13-ball 24. Aaron Finch then joined hands with Shaun Marsh and exhibited a wonderful display of power-hitting.
The duo played shots all around the ground and it looked like Melbourne Renegades would chase the target comfortably. However, once Shaun Marsh got out after scoring 75 off 52 balls, runs dried up and wickets then fell quickly. Aaron Finch got out after scoring 51 off 38 balls and the Renegades, in the end, fell 6 runs short of the target.
Thomas Rogers and Sandeep Lamichhane led the way with the ball as the duo picked 5 wickets between them.
Brief Scores: Hobart Hurricanes 5 for 182 (Wade 48, David 46*, Lalor 2-37, Boyce 2-37) beat Melbourne Renegades 6 for 176 ( Finch 75, Marsh 51, Rogers 3-35, Lamichhane 2-27) by six runs
