Belgium Secures Spot in Euro 2024 Knockout Rounds Despite Draw with Ukraine

Domenico Tedesco’s Belgium side has advanced to the last 16 of Euro 2024 as runners-up in Group E, following a lackluster 0-0 draw with Ukraine in their final group stage match in Stuttgart. While the result was enough to secure their spot in the knockout rounds, Belgium will need to step up their game if they hope to go further in the tournament.

Star striker Romelu Lukaku missed a golden opportunity in the first half, failing to convert a chance created by Kevin De Bruyne. Despite Ukraine creating more chances in the first half, they were unable to find the back of the net, thanks in part to Belgium goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

The second half saw both teams continue to struggle to break the deadlock, with Belgium substitute Yannick Carrasco and Ukraine’s Artem Dovbyk coming close to scoring. In the end, Belgium held on for the draw, setting up a showdown with France in the next round.

Despite Ukraine’s efforts, they were unable to find a breakthrough and will be exiting the competition after a valiant effort in the group stage. Belgium will now need to regroup and improve their performance if they want to progress further in Euro 2024. Stay tuned for more football news and updates as the tournament continues.
