Prime Video has announced the launch of a first-ever documentary about England Cricket Captain Ben Stokess life and career. England Cricket Captain Ben Stokess life and career will launch exclusively on the streaming platform later this year. Amazon Prime Video, Ben Stokes and Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes have joined forces to produce an influential new documentary about the England Test cricket captain’s incredible career.
The movie does not shy away from exploring Ben Stokes lowest moments away from the pitch, even covering his arrest for fighting outside of a nightclub in Bristol in 2017. The documentary follows the journey of England cricket captain Ben Stokes, exploring his World Cup triumphs and heroism at the crease in Headingley, but also his lows, which saw him spend time away from the game and came at huge personal cost.
Stokes opens up about his world cup and Headingley heroics, and his off-field troubles, in the documentary. His cricketing career has been an intense mix of both, and the documentary reflects it all. The documentary is expected to shed light on Stokes famous Headingley heroics, as well as a few of his lifes non-field prospects. Several of his England teammates including Joe Root, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Jos Buttler, and the late great Shane Warne, as well as Stokes agent, Neil Fairbrother, were interviewed for the documentary.
The documentary also features an intimate interview with his father, Ged, conducted on one of Stokes last visits to New Zealand to meet him before he passed away. Ben Stokes will discuss his man-of-the-match performances at the 2019 World Cup Final, and his incredible century in the following month, which secured an incredible one-wicket win against Australia in an Ashes Test at Headingley.
