The bad grass
Last Sunday Benzema entered the locker room angrily. He knew that he had not had a day as inspired as his other forward teammates (Vinicius and Rodrygo were very incisive in their dribbling and imbalance), but in his case it hurt him that the irregular state of the grass prevented him from seeing him play with the finesse that we has become accustomed to in recent years. Karim is right. Before the World Cup break it was seen that the usual green carpet at the Bernabéu was not such, which has taken its toll on a team with very technical players like Modric, Kroos, Asensio and the aforementioned attacking trident. This time the problem increased during the World Cup break.
How it will be changed
The green carpet was covered with a tarpaulin to protect it from the winter cold and dust from the construction of the stadium. But as a result of that it was discovered that a kind of degenerative virus had affected the grass, causing those irregularities that Ancelotti’s men complained about. Already on September 23 it was decided to change it also because he was attacked by a virus that made it necessary to put new turf, this time brought from Arévalo (Avila). The new green was ‘inaugurated’ on October 2 against Osasuna. On this occasion, they will take advantage of the fact that from tomorrow’s Madrid-Valencia and Madrid-Elche on February 15 (9:00 p.m.) there will be 13 days without commitments at home. For this reason, from this same Friday the current grass will be removed and the one that the club hopes will be definitive will be installed: “Our players play very associative and high-quality football, as was seen last season with perfect grass. Hopefully this time it will be green to help us win matches and titles”.
