Team India’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued his excellent form in T20. First, he impressed everyone with his art in the Indian Premier League and then continued his stellar form against South Africa. Now Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done something similar against Ireland. The senior pacer also got off to a good start in the first match against Ireland in Dublin on Sunday.

As he often does, Bhuvneshwar was given the new ball and the veteran pacer did not disappoint as he took a crucial wicket in the form of Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie. It was as normal a fast bowler’s wicket as it could get. Bhuvneshwar quickly troubled Balbirnie with a swing and got his wicket on the second ball, pitched over the off-stump line and hit the off-stump while inswinging.

Ireland lost a big wicket in the very first over and taking that wicket, Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieved a major milestone in T20 cricket. With that dismissal, Bhuvneshwar took his number of Powerplay wickets to 34, the most for a bowler in T20Is, as he surpassed New Zealand pacer Tim Southee and former West Indies spinner Samuel Badree. Dia, who has 33 wickets to her name in the first six overs. Bhuvneshwar’s art of taking wickets in the first six overs seems to be proving to be very effective.

Bhuvneshwar bowled a successful spell on Sunday evening and conceded just 16 runs in his three overs including a maiden. Bhuvneshwar along with Yuzvendra Chahal (1/11 in 3 overs) were instrumental in restricting Ireland to 108 in 12 overs despite Harry Tector’s explosive knock of 64* in just 33 balls.

Team India started off with a fresh combination with Deepak Hooda along with Ishaan Kishan and both got their team off to a good start. Hardik Pandya (24 off 12) and then Hooda (47* off 29) batted brilliantly on a small ground to take India to victory in just 9.2 overs.
